Myopia (or short sightedness) causes problems with seeing clearly in the distance and is usually easily corrected with glasses or contact lenses to enable you to see. There are some treatments that may slow down myopia during childhood, known as myopia management. A number of treatments are available (some more than others) including specially designed glasses or contact lenses, and eye drops. Please contact us for a copy of the College Of Optometrists guidance booklet.

At Prince & Bates we are now able to offer a specialist myopia control spectacle lens (similar to a normal lens, but with a change of focus in the periphery) and a daily disposable contact lens (NaturalVue) which works in similar way. If you are interested in finding out more, or wish to book a consultation with Mr Marshall (our myopia management specialist) then please get in touch.

Mr Marshall
Within two weeks both of my children were receiving some form of myopia control

We moved to Prince & Bates from a large high street opticians, to get support with the progression of my children's myopia (short-sightedness). Despite a lot of outdoor activity and low levels of screen time, their prescriptions were regularly getting stronger, which was causing me concern.

I was immediately impressed by the personal service. Within two weeks both of my children were receiving some form of myopia control - my 11 year old daughter in the form of contact lenses (which she absolutely loves!) and my son in the form of myopia control lenses in his glasses. He also tried the contact lenses as a more effective measure but he found them difficult to manage, being only 7, but the staff were incredibly patient and supportive in trying to teach him. I would highly recommend Prince and Bates, both for care and service and for the choice of glasses available.
