What is Dry Eye?

 

Think of your tears like a layer of oil and water that keeps your eyes moist and comfortable.

 

• The Water or Aqueous layer cleanses your eyes.

• The Oil layer floats on top of the tear film and stops the water layer from drying up too quickly.

 

Sometimes, your eyes either:

 

• Don't make enough oil.

• The oil isn't the right consistency.

• There's just not enough of the watery part.

 

One or more of these issues leads to dry eyes.
